Collection: Oil on Slate Paintings

Original one-of-a-kind oil paintings on natural slate by Nikki Broekaart.

Nikki paints directly onto the natural slate’s surface, no priming is needed. Slate is a perfect natural canvas and lends itself to the craft. The oil paint is gestural and textured and the colours dry vibrant and bright against the dark background of the slate.

Nikki loves to use natural slate as a canvas as it adds to the rustic nature of her pieces and brings out the natural beauty of her subject matters.

The slate has pre-drilled holes perfect for hanging by screws or threading a strong piece of rope through.
